Working for Peaceful Neighborhood Billboards
The Arts Council of Louisville has launched three "Working for Peaceful Neighborhood" billboards. The most recent billboard is at Kentucky and Preston Streets. It is the Metro Health Department's TAI CHI Health and Happiness program billboard.
The billboard projected has been a collaboration with CBS Outdoor, "Nappy Roots" and the River City Drum Corp. It is an initiative that links the arts and community as a response to strengthening and building peaceful neighborhoods.
The billboard project is supported by partial funding from Louisville-Jefferson County Metro Government, state government, community organizations and local artists. The purpose is to create an awareness of the crime that exists in our neighborhoods and to work towards creating peaceful solutions.
"Neighborhoods are not entities that exist within themselves, but they are entities that include each and every one of us. What affects one neighborhood will ultimately effect all others. We are all connected," states Baba Serikali, Tai Chi instructor.
"We invite each of you to support "Working for peaceful neighborhoods." We cannot do it without you!, states Baba Serikali, International Tai Chi Health Research Institute, LC"
